author's notes

The story itself is ninety percent fact, ten percent fiction.

This summer I was broken up with by the first person I'd ever thought I could love forever. After crying for months, I decided to turn my grief into something else. Nothing ever works out like in the movies: there is no sudden turnabout, no magical fix-it, no happy ending. This story hurt to write, and for some of you, it will hurt to read; but by writing this I have managed to find closure, some peace of mind, and in a few months perhaps it won't even hurt at all.

Thank you to everyone who was there for me this summer. It's meant so much to me.
